This was taken late one afternoon on a backpacking trip to Seven Gables Basin in the Sierra Nevada. That day I had hiked up from the trailhead to this beautiful area. I was unclear of my destination for the day when I climbed over a crest to see this view and just threw off my pack. I knew where I was camping that night.

I started landscape photography with a cheap film slr camera with the goal of bringing home views from my trips into the Sierra Nevada mountains. I was hooked from then on and posted many of my photos on a rudimentary website. In the last few years I’ve taken up digital, which I mainly shoot now, but I still have that cheap film slr which I use to shoot a role of fuji velvia every now and then. Over the last year I have gotten into wildlife and bird photography.

These Japanese Macaque monkeys spend their days bathing in geothermal hot springs in the mountains of Japan. Throughout the day they can be seen playing, grooming and relaxing in the steaming waters!
