Eagle Creek Canyon

by Michael Flaherty

A wet day was ending deep in the canyon of Eagle Creek, Columbia River Gorge Scenic Area. The moss and trees were saturated with moisture and color, and the low light made the pristine waters glow aquamarine. I was soaked to the skin, with a hike out by headlamp ahead of me, but this kind of setting, so beautiful, is unique to the Pacific Northwest. I forgot any discomforts and enjoyed evening coming on.

Yes I love this too, can’t wait to be here soon. I’ll be spending the last half of this year shooting the PacNW so I love to see what I’m letting myself in for. I don’t think I’ve seen this composition before which is of course a breath of fresh air. Maybe a tad over saturated but I wouldn’t know not having been there, and in any case that is what people seem to want these days.

At first glance saw this incredibly beautiful scene, colors great, then I took a second look and saw the waterfall to the right, the beautiful water, everything. Really lovely, and thanks for sharing with those of us who probably won’t get there ourselves. That Columbia River Gorge must be one of the best places for pictures, so many lovely ones come from there.
