pelican formation

by arthur xanthopoulos

The image was taken along the South East coast of Victoria. It has not been edited to remove colour. The effect of monochrome is a result of heavy smoke in the air due to back burning which created the mute tones
Equipment: Nikon D700 Nikkor 17-35mm f/4

Love how the sky and water meet and blur making the row of pelicans a welcome point of context.

What a great picture, and really cool how the smoke made it just so special. Good job!

Yes, the gradient subtleties leading into sublime are so mystical. Love this.

But there is color. Soft greens and yellows in the water, a little blue in the sky and just a hint of pink on the left and then of course the white of the pelicans. Love the photo – it’s very peaceful.

Amazing photo. It is always interesting to see when nature plays a trick and we get special circumstance. Beautiful shot.

If it weren’t for the pelicans, it would be impossible to see where sea and horizon meet. I love pelicans! Very nice shot!

Arthur …the mood is lovely, how often would one think of a wide angle shot with birds. Beautifully composed image. Well done
