There is a star inside the moon crescent ? HOW is that POSSIBLE?
And the moon looks huge relative to the rest ???

Matt, the moon was shot at a longer focal length, because with an ultrawide lens it was just a speck (much smaller than it appeared to my eye) and not at all a compositional element. That is its correct position in the sky, and that is the actual crescent moon that was present. As you may know, the moon (or any celestial object) appears much larger if it’s close to the horizon, as this was – that’s as large as I remember it being in relation to the scene. This is an artistic interpretation of the scene.

The star-in-disc issue is a good point, and has since been fixed (but unfortunately not before submitting the image to ES.) The reason that happened is that I exposed lower for the moon, and thus when moving it into the main image to replace the speck, there was actually no disc visible, and I didn’t think of the fact it should be occluding the stars. I have submitted an updated version with a slightly smaller moon and the star issue fixed, so perhaps you’ll see that soon.

That is just one of the most incredible photos, just love it. Want to go to Glacier Park now, though I know we’d never catch a scene quite like this one. Thanks so much for sharing. Your web site is just so beautiful, there just aren’t words to describe it. I will be looking at it again!

Awe come on Matt, that’s not a star… That’s a cow! :- )
The waterfall, though, is absolutely spectacular. Beautifully photographed! It’s really too bad the scene has been turned into (yet another) fairy tale. Alex, is that the Busy Constellation there? And with an ultrawide lens too!
I would love to see the real photo. The make-believe sky spoiled it for me.
