Quiver Trees by Night

The warm lights of Keetmanshoop contrast with the cool glow of the Milky Way in this 230 degree view of the Quiver Tree Forest near Keetmanshoop, Namibia. I find that the glow of the nearby town adds to the overall composition. The foreground is illuminated by starlight (and some light pollution), at the very limit of what the camera can detect.
Equipment: Canon 40D, Tokina 11-16mm, Nodal Ninja 3 panoramic head

Nice combination of light sources. I especially like the way the light source appears to almost halo the trees with an ‘erie’ distortion.

Would you mind sharing what setting you use and if it is a single or composite image. I am a budding ammateur and struggling with night photography (long exposures being blurred due to movement and shorter exposures not capturing the ambient light).
