Green Stream

by Orvaratli

Finally things where perfect for Aurora photography. There is snow on the ground, small moon, no wind and fairly active display of Aurora. Having snow on the ground makes such a difference in good Aurora photo. It gives the image much more character to have some snow. This one is shot north east of Reykjavik near Mt. Esja. I have known about this location for a while and always wanted to photograph it along with Aurora. I knew that on this very cold evening (-15C) the river would be frozen adding nice foreground element to the picture.

You have just amazed my seven year old daughter. She loves this picture, just as I do. Thank you for sharing it.

Splendid work! Indeed a terrific foreground with great textures and details. How did you manage such a good depth of field, considering the aurora needs a small f-stop?

Excellent work. I’m Canadian so I’ve seen a lot of “northern lights”. You amuse me when you say “very cold” and -15C. Very cold begins at -30C. What time of year was this shot?

Absolutely surreal. Like from another world . . . a little scary but beautiful at the same time.

As a photographer myself, I am amazed at the beauty you captured. Using location scouting as I do, you did an incredible job. Combining creativity, knowledge of science and design you have provided the privilege for others to live vicariously from the warmth of their own homes. Thank you!
