Frigid Fractures

by Jeff Swanson

It is a rare treat to be able to access Tenaya Lake in the winter so easily. I seized the opportunity and found the lake iced-over and brimming with wonderful textures.
Equipment: Nikon D7000, Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6 EX

Wonderful image Jeff. I’ve spent a lot of time in Tuolumne but never seen this before.

I get chills looking at it-not that it isn’t a beautiful image, but don’t let the soft hues of some of the colors fool you-it’s cold! And this is a wonderful capture of that.

Very nice. I just took a quick look at your 500px portfolio and was really taken by the one of Mt. St. Helens. Eyes first drawn to the beautiful wildflowers, then the cone, before noticing the tree stumps — an awe moment.
