Lake Martin Egret

by Clark Crenshaw

The lake had been covered with thick fog all morning. When it finally started to break I spotted this lone egret sitting in just the right spot to catch the morning light.

That is a stunning image, you just end up staring at it. Looks almost primeval. The Egret almost knew where to perch. I feel as if I am there. Thank you!

Where is that? It looks like a swamp not a lake. I lived in Florida for 21 years and it looks like the Everglades…..Great composition. Beautiful shot. I took a lot of shots myself of egrets over my lake in Florida!

I like contrast of the hanging moss against the detail of the egret. Good shot.

Lake Martin is in South Louisiana (USA) near Lafayette.
Swamp tours are available in “Cajun Country!”
In addition to waterfowl, bald eagles, and nutria, there are plenty of alligators!

I’ve always loved the mysterious beauty of cypress trees with Spanish moss blowing in the breeze. This is an excellent photo!

Thanks for all the great comments! Sorry I was a little slow to respond. I Just got the weekly email and found out this was featured! Guess I better start checking daily. Thanks Laura 3D for telling where Lake Martin is. It is a small lake and easy to photograph from the shore in many places. I have many more shots from Lake Martin on my G+ stream.
