The sky is something special. It draws me over to the castle. Awesome.

Astonishing. Well done.

Great atmosphere; looks like something out of a fantasy adventure, though I suspect that real people died here.

Thank you Russ and Pauline :-)
Here you are some additional information about this very particular place.

This artillery was used during the Second World War.?It is located on the summit of Mont Chaberton, a 3.131 metres (10,272 ft) peak in the French Alps in the group known as the Massif des Cerces in the département of Hautes-Alpes.
This very impressive building was dubbed “Fort of the Clouds” and mounted eight 149mm guns in individual masonry turrets, which were often hidden in the clouds.?Built between 1898 and 1910 by the Italians to control the Montgenèvre pass, this fort was then considered as the highest and most powerful of Europe. ?Nine soldiers died in this fort, and fifty were wounded.?
About the picture itself, as you can see it’s an overall view, of both the Fort and the night sky above. Captured by the extreme north point of the summit. ?The fortress is facing east, and the visible sector of the Milky Way is totally oriented to the west.

In order to take this picture I spent the night on the summit, at 3,131 meters, mounting my tent inside the fortress, to protect it from strong winds.

Best greetings and regards to you all!

This is like a picture postcard from another world-simply beautiful. You can lost in the sky, but yyou always return to the outline of the fortress. An image whose memory will stay with me for quite some time. Thank you for sharing!
