I have never seen an image from these ice laden black sand beaches with wave action captured. They are always with calm conditions. Awesome !!!! congrats! :)

James – This was my second trip to the Ice Lagoon and I had never thought to capture something like this. This day was also the first I’d ever seen the waves actually crashing into the ice so maybe it doesn’t happen all that often.

Thanks for the information Jon! I plan to go there next year from Canada. just now heading to the Yukon near the arctic circle to capture the “Northern lights” in a mountainous start of winter setting :) 12 day back-packing trip!

Speaking for the ametuer wanna be photographers of the world, it would be helpful if all POTD shots would include the details to used create these masterpieces… camera, lens, exposure time, filters, etc.
And speaking for the wanna be travelers, it would be helpful to have the city and country listed as well.
