Concealment

by Russell Johnson

I was in the Northern Kwando at the end of the rainy season when I captured this image. The grasses were high and the morning crisp with the onset of winter. As we headed along on a track, the spotter saw this shy male leopard, sitting on road, almost concealed by the grass. I wanted my image to portray the stealth of a leopard. This solitary animal is a silent stalker, using concealment as it moves through the African bush. The tall grasses added to the scene, pushing me towards capturing more of the environment than the subject itself.

Well captured; they recon that leopards live in towns but they are so shy that nobody ever sees them.

He seems almost cuddly in this picture. Not very scary looking at all. I love the pastel colors of the surroundings and the sharpness of the colors of the Leopard. Congratulations!
