Concealment
by Russell Johnson
I was in the Northern Kwando at the end of the rainy season when I captured this image. The grasses were high and the morning crisp with the onset of winter. As we headed along on a track, the spotter saw this shy male leopard, sitting on road, almost concealed by the grass.
I wanted my image to portray the stealth of a leopard. This solitary animal is a silent stalker, using concealment as it moves through the African bush. The tall grasses added to the scene, pushing me towards capturing more of the environment than the subject itself.
