What a great picture. The youngster is a portrait of contentment. I love how the colors both contrast and complement at the same time and there’s a spaciousness about this scene that makes me linger and enjoy a moment of relaxation myself.

A much better backdrop than in any portrait studio. Great lighting and exposure. A very natural and relaxed feel to the whole picture.

I do like your photos David – they are far better than any I could take and usually very interesting.
But I do feel they tend to be somewhat contrived and so they lose that x factor.
Good job nevertheless

I am intriqued by this shot. I agree with the comments fore mentioned. I’m sure he is not the first monk to sit there and contemplate his surroundings. What is it that the tree has been holding up all these years? Do you know David?
David Lazar
Fernando – well im not sure that many other monks have sat on this tree to contemplate life – the roots are probably not all that comfortable to sit on! I asked him if he could sit here for my photo… as I walked past this tree I thought it (along with the background) would make a great photo, if only it had a monk in it to make the picture complete. As for the bricks under the roots, I have no idea how or why they were put in, presumably to keep the shape of the roots when the earth was dug out around it.

You have really caputured the peace and tranquility this little boy feels. I see the bricks as respresenting that the earth will always take back what man does to it – it’s like she is claiming the bricks as her own now, and the little boy is becoming one with mother nature.

In all the business of our lives here in the USA, we forget to stop and appreciate the absolute beauty that God has given us on our planet. This young man, no matter what his station in life, shines his wealth from the inside out. In our lives of texting, emails and instant messaging, we fail to listen to the most important communication of all….the beauty that is Earth. Thank you for this wonderful reminder.
