Rider of the Tempest

by Marc Adamus

The sunset stirs something of the spirit of this ancient, one of the oldest trees on Earth. The trees live near the sky, at well over 3000 meters in elevation, enduring the harshest of conditions alone. This portrait was an opportunity to capture their essence, which I had waited for a long time.
Equipment: Canon 1Ds III, Nikon 14-24 lens

The mood and feel of this image is simply wicked!, a stunning capture Marc. I was in Moab Ut. Last week and photographed many of the Bristol Pines in many variations but none as magnificent as this. Again, terrific!

This may be the most dramatic photograph I’ve ever seen.
They say a picture speaks a thousand words, and there are words here.
I don’t expect they will come today, but they are surely on their way.

Outstanding!! Congratulations!!! Everything in this composition takes the eye to the focal point–The backlighting and the cloud constellations angling inward toward the horizon line are sheer compositional perfection.
