Tidal Secrets
by Floris van Breugel
A particularly rich tide pool full of sea anemones I found along the coast of Washington's Olympic National Park during a very low tide.
Equipment: Canon 5DmkII, Nikon 14-24mm, tripod

I am a nature photographer living in Seattle, WA. I am most interested in unique and artistic interpretations of that natural world, with a special interest in natural patterns and simple emotionally evocative images. I sell fine art prints, write articles, and lead occasional private workshops. When not out shooting, I'm working towards my PhD in Control and Dynamical Systems at the University of Washington.

Just breath-taking… demonstrating that you don’t always need golden light to take a classic image.. Killer foreground beautifully balanced by the stack.. top class

Just beautiful – We always look for these when we go the beach, but have never seen such a beautiful one as this. Great job and I love the colors

Thanks folks!
Pauline, this is very real!
Mushfique, this was taken with the camera just millimeters above the water with an ultrawide angle lens. No need for a polarizer either.
Jacqueline Deely
Amazing shot and incredible clarity in the water without a polarizer! Congratulations!

You seem to have taken it a step beyond what we normally see. The foreground anemones are so large and still in focus with the background. A very enticing capture.

What a contrast between the liquid foreground and the barren shore. A most unusual photo capture.
