Coastal Motion

by Jim Patterson

I was amazed at the rock formations and how untouched this little stretch of coast was. I even saw deer hoof prints in the sand. Of course, some people own houses that over look this stretch of beach, so there are a few others who know of its beauty. I vowed to return when there were better conditions (ie sunset) and I got my chance a couple weeks later. A pocket of clouds was forming up the coast despite the clear blue skies telling me to stay home. This image was made well after sunset when the light level was low. Nikon D7000 Nikkor 12-24mm @ 12mm 68 sec (aiming for 75 or so...need to get a new remote that does this for me!), f9, ISO 100 Lee .9 Soft GND Filter

I love your use of B & W in such a sensitive shot. Ansel Adams would be proud.

Spectacular – This image is like being there – I can almost feel the spray. It must have been great out there with nothing but prime opportunities and no other people/photogs to crowd you! Congrats in following the sign!

Absolutely stunning. I love how the clouds in motion create lines that nearly mirror the lines of the rock formations all leading to a single focal point. Great execution.
