African Buffalo
by David Lloyd
An old African Buffalo, and old African Buffalo are irritable, grouchy and dangerous. He’s old and has probably been excluded from his herd now and will see his last days to himself. This was one picture of several which we took just metres from us, and when he moved out towards us, we felt it best for us to just move on. Masai Mara, Kenya.
I am hosting an exclusive photographic Masai Mara migration tour this August at a one-off low price, more information can be found here.
Equipment: Nikon D300 with 200-400 zoom

He may be old, but he looks as if he could charge right out of the photo! Thanks for sharing!

All the years of trials and accumulated wisdom show in his face, his blunted horns, and his torn ears. His eyes are pure wisdom and experience, and knowing what lies ahead.

Great portrait , thanks

What has he been fighting with that he is so beat up. I understand the concept of being old and limited on time, but I don’t know what hunts them aside from big cats.

What an incredible expression on the face of the bull, captivating shot.

Very expressive features. One of the best animal shots I’ve seen that seems to embody the animal’s character in the face.
