Oleander Hawk-Moth

by Aloke Sahu

I found this beautiful moth one cold morning in Savannakhet, Southern Laos. One of the few moths that has incredibly beautiful wing colours and patterns more commonly associated with butterflies, it was probably attracted by the fragrant jasmine blooms in the area. The larvae of this species is just as attractive.
Equipment: Canon EOS 7D, Sigma 180mm f/3.5 Macro HSM, 20mm Kenko Extension tube

I'm an amateur photographer hoping to go pro, but I don't know just how to go about doing that. I love nature - I'm fascinated by life and its intricate and complex workings - and I love its Creator, whose imagination is well beyond ours. God has given me the opportunity to live in, and visit several countries in Southeast Asia, and I'm grateful for the experiences I've had in each country, not to mention the numerous photo-opportunities that I took on with delight.

Bravo to you for grabbing your camera and doing the capture. I never would have seen an Oleander Hawk-Moth if it weren’t for you and your passion!
