Skagit Valley Tulip Festival

by Kevin Pieper

I recently had the opportunity to get up to Mount Vernon to shoot the tulips. We were lucky enough to have an interesting sky, and although there weren't many fields peaking yet, this field of pink tulips was in full bloom.
Equipment: Canon 5D MKII, 16-35 at 16mm, f22 to get the sun star, 3-stop reverse grad

Best tulip field picture I’ve seen, and being from nearby I’ve seen many! Guess the pinks are early, I don’t remember seeing this color. Thanks for the memories…I now live in AZ

Giving equal space to that glorious sky makes for a stunning image. Well deserved potd, Kevin!

Is this Mount Vernon the same as George Washington’s home? I have been there several times, but I have never seen anything like your picture.

Absolutely gorgeous picture by the way!

Thanks for this glorious reminder of my childhood stomping grounds. You captured what would have been gone forever in another second or two.

Thanks everyone for the comments!
Age: This is Mount Vernon in Washington state. No relation to George!

I was just there this weekend too! It is certainly a must do if you are in Western Washington in April. I love this photo – the sky looks great and compliments to tulips perfectly. Wonderful job :)

Beautiful field of Tulips, but even more captivating is the sun beaming through the clouds. What a beautiful sight! You have captured the essence of Nature’s beauty.

This beautiful scene is just a reminder of how very, very Awesome my God really is. April 18th is my daughter’s birthday and what a blessed way to end it, with this scene in mind. Thank You for sharing Kevin

Nice image Kevin!

good picture, but I do not like the horizon exactly in the middle. The horizon-rule is
only a rule of thumb, but i feel in this case it should be applied and your picture
would be much better with 2/3 flowers and 1/3 sky !
