Sinuous Solstice

by Matt Anderson

I have just returned from a two week trip to California. I traveled over 2,000 miles and shot 50Gb's worth of photo's. I would have to say the dunes of Death Valley might be the most amazing place I encountered. It was the longest day of the year. What better place to be! There was only one other photographer on the dunes this evening. I chose a spot furthest from the road. Even near twilight the temps were 110°F. This shot was taken minutes before the sun bid it's final adieu...
Equipment: Canon 5D Mark II, 70-200mm, f/22, 1/4 sec, RRS Omni Pano Pro

I've been told I'm fearless, intense, & see imagery through the eyes of a child. My images are a canvas painted by my feelings, experiences, passions, & vision (Minds Eye).

This shot is extraordinary ! As a photographer, it makes me want to jump in my car and drive to Death Valley right now. I love the curving line in the foreground; it leads your eyes into the rest of the frame. I look forward to seeing more of your work Matt.

Oh wow! What an image. You really lucked out and captured the true beauty of Death Valley. I love the richness of the colors – like tiny grains of pure gold.
