Turning Nature’s Pages

Ansel Adams said, "You don't take a photograph, you make it." In my own way, I wish to make images that are not only visually stimulating, but will also stir our emotions. Photography has always been a part of my life. Although, I prefer black and white because it is raw and strips away distractions and draws on emotion. I still love color and believe that a full color pallet adds vibrancy and warmth also important in photography.

BEAUTIFUL! Love the ‘back story’ as well
I have similar pictures of a Birch tree in my back yard. These are my favorite trees. Great shot.

Something draws me to the birch trees as they peel their thin skin away. This photo reveals that “peeling” away of the exterior to reveal the true inner beauty. But I see the beauty outside as well in this process.

What a fabulous shot, I love that for a change instead of a landscape – which are also beautiful we have a close up – of something often over looked – well done, it’s a fabulous image

Thanks to everyone for the terrific comments. I appreciate the kudos. Sometimes getting close reveals what is often over looked. This actually is cropped from a larger image. The more I studied it, the more the texture and color drew me in . I kept cropping closer and closer until the story became apparent.
Thanks again,
Kevin

I too am a tree freak! I love the textural tonality of the many layers shown in this birch . Beautiful work here! And I’m in complete agreement on the uniqueness of the winning subject. Congratulations!
