Winter Spirit

by Scott Hotaling

After a stormy night, the new day broke clear in this mountain forest in western North Carolina. The rising sun, blue sky, and ice clinging to the trees combined for a special image that had been in my mind's eye for years.

It was in my mind’s eye from when I was a child and now I get to see the filigree silver for real which is created in this incredible place. This is a beautiful, beautiful capture Scott, bravo!

That’s a fabulous image. The branches of the trees look almost like the spurs of snowflakes. Just beautiful. Congratulations.

At first from the thumb pic I thought you caught neat cloud patterns behind the trees….till I opened up the picture. Brilliant, perfect, I’m so happy for you that you caputured what you had wanted and seen in your mind for so long. Congrats.

Very nice! Now…you need to take shots from the very same spot in spring, summer, & autumn. What a neat grouping that would make!

I Love this magnificent, icy, blue and white shot up through the trees to the heavens. I frequently shoot up through trees as well, though I’ve never captured a sight as glorious as this!
