The Beacon

by Harry Lichtman

A unique sunrise over Swiftcurrent Lake in Glacier National Park only illuminated Grinnell Point. The clouds obscured the sun, and the sky lost its color before the valley was bathed in the warm light. For several minutes, the lone peak shone brilliantly. It was one of the more breath-taking moments during my years of landscape photography.
Equipment: Canon 5D MarkII, Canon 17-40L, 2 stop Grad ND filter

Can’t ask for more, I guess. The light is just breathtaking, Harry and the reflection on the still lake sets it over the top. Wonderful work!

Such a magnificent view. And, as we turn around 80 degrees, we shall see the bejeweled gates of heaven and also see the streets of gold.
Within the walls… Haplpy Valentines’s Day.

What an awesome, powerful shot … the interesting sky, the stunning light on the Point, right down to the gentle colours of the stones by the shore. What a spiritual moment. Thank you for capturing it so brilliantly and sharing it with us.
