Red Planet

by Marc Adamus

There are remote 'pockets' in the Arizona high desert on the Colorado Plateau that I find I can only describe as being akin to an alien world. The intricacies of the wildly colored and striated sandstone outcroppings are captivating and unique. When combined with a beautiful sky and the radiant glow of a fiery sunset on this evening I made many attempts at combining the two. This was one of the results.
Equipment: Canon 5D Mark II, Nikon 14-24 f/2.8 G lens with V3 adapter

You would think Hollywood would have discovered this by now; perhaps it’s just as well they haven’t

I am SO glad you persisted! My mother had a love affair with Arizona all her life, she passed it onto me. I only moved here in 2005, after many lovely visits. It is my Heart Land, and you capture it so perfectly, thank you!

The cloud patterns really compliment the “motion” of the sandstone, and you have presented this unique and fabulous site so well. Great find, and may you have many more.

I think if I’ve had a chance I’d spend a few days on Mars just for a vacation :) . *sigh* I guess those type of vacations won’t be available for at least another 150 years…
