Blyde River Canyon
by Mitchell Krog
The Blyde River Canyon situated in the Mpumalanga province of South Africa has some of the most fantastic scenery in South Africa. The canyon is the 3rd largest in the world and most certainly the greenest canyon of all. I had scouted my location the day before and arrived this morning about an hour before sunrise and waited for magic time. Shortly before sunrise some thick cloud and mist started rolling into the canyon and I thought the sunrise would flop but for a brief period the sun found a gap through the clouds and streamed over the mountainsides and into the canyon and created a magical scene.

Hello Mitchell
As a fellow South African I especially liked this shot. Have sat at the top of this canyon several times before I took to carrying a camera. Wow you have done great justice in sharing the beauty of this quiet wilderness. I love the natural colours you have chosen to go with. And also like the way the sun rays dance around the side of the mountain. Thanks for sharing a wonderful still.

Wow, this shot has everything! Sun rays, mist, mountains, greenery, distant river, rocks. Fabulous! Is the reddish/brown plant in the foreground a quiver tree? Thank you for showing us the beauty of this country!
