Spot-lit Sand Falls

by Chikku Baiju

Antelope canyon is slot canyon that is shaped by monsoon floods. During mid-day light beams strike the canyon. I decided to focus on areas the light were hitting and tried to get something unique. It took me quite a bit of running back and forth throwing sand, and taking the pic before the sand ran out. But in the end I am happy with the result.

Chikku,
This is masterclass stuff. There is a stroke of genius here. I wasn’t clear if you were 19 years old or if you meant you had been doing photography for 19 years. Somehow, it is hard to imagine that a 19-year-old would have this level of skill, so if you are only 19, my goodness what your artistic future holds.

An excellent study that has been carefully controlled both artistically and technically, especially in the conversion to mono. Very nicely done, indeed.

Excellent excellent excellent!!! The throwing of sand …just WOW! A true artist! The image in b/w… Gorgeous! I almost always find the colours in these canyons too overwhelming in photographs. But this is magnificent! Light-perspective-composition-design… Great work!
Congratulation for POTD!

Nicely done! I really like the tones and the fact you are looking for and creating your own “interpretation” of a heavily photographed locale.

I really like your work, strong compositions, wonderful tones, and I always love slow shutters. Have you shot any B/W film, I think it really suit your style
