Kolob Dreams

by Ian Plant

I made this image as twilight's glow bathed Kolob Terrace in an eerie light during a 30-second exposure. Kolob Terrace is one of may favorite places in Zion National Park, in large part because few people ever visit or photograph this location. I was standing in the middle of a silvery burnt forest, overlooking red sandstone buttes. To learn more about the story behind this image, visit my photoblog.

I love the colorful vegetation in the foreground, contrasting with the apparently barren, red buttes in the background. Very striking landscape.

The cacti and other vegetation seems to be specifically planted there ; Mother earth is one great designer!
