Holiday Bay

by Stephen Oachs

The San Francisco skyline at night shines a little brighter during the month of December. Traditionally, the TransAmerica Pyramid, and a few other buildings, are only lit up for the holidays, making the normally breathtaking horizon glow brighter than usual. On this rare, fogless night, the city is truly magnificent. The Embarcadero Center is festively outlined in lights, and the famous Pier 39 and Fisherman's Wharf are hugging the ink-colored shoreline, lending a drama that does the Bay Area justice.

Nice shot. But fogless nights in December are not “rare.” SF is foggy in the summer months.

San Francisco’s Embarcadero is a lovely venue. The image and caption were brilliant

I would certainly buy this postcard if I saw it in the stand.
Something very magical about the lights glistening on of the bay,
Beautiful evening and capture.

Beautiful capture!

Ellie… That makes us a little homesick seeing our old stomping grounds like that. LOL… You really captured the essence of the romance of SF. Too bad the new Bay Bridge they’re building isn’t quite as nice looking as this one.

Beautiful image, but isn’t it flipped? If you’re looking south from Marin County, then the Transamerica Pyramid should be on the left.

Superb shot, Stephen. And Dan – this isn’t “flipped” – it is taken from just east (and beneath) the Bay Bridge looking southwest to SF skyline. The Golden Gate would be out of view to the right with Marin even farther right. . .

This is gorgeous on so many levels. Bravo!

Brilliant being the key word here… the jewel tones and rich colours are astounding! The exposure is so right on exquisite in this shot, I could cry!
This would look stellar in a LARGE Metallic print! Wish I could afford it. The best I’ve seen!
Thank you!
