Fall in the Himalayas

by Michael Anderson

Yading Nature Reserve - Sichaun, China The most majestic mountain sanctuary I've ever seen. This was still a true wilderness when I visited in 2006. I camped and was invited in to Yak herder huts as I hiked a kora around the mountains. A kora is a holy pilgrimage tibetan pilgrims make around certain holy regions such as the famous Mt Kailash kora. I hope the Chinese government decides to preserve the area in it's current natural state and that they respect and honor the tibetan pilgrims that hike the kora each year as their ancestors have for hundreds of years.
Equipment: Hasselblad H2D

Another spectacular vista: “Fall in the Himalayas” I love the layers of hills that eventually morph into the scary mountains that stop me cold!

There are places in the world that are too beautiful for words. Being there to see them for one’s self is a privilege, but photography like this goes a long way in bringing such beauty to those of us who do not have the means to travel to distant locations like this. Thank you for sharing your first hand experience

This is the kind of place we would love to visit but should not as our very presence would change it.

I’m not used to seeing fall color from conifers. Are these pine trees? Thank you for sharing this photo. It is spectacular.

Thanks everyone. I appreciate all the commentary. This is a truly magnificent mountain sanctuary. Bill these are Larch trees and the entire forest turns gold in autumn up there.
