Emerging Heat

This is one of the hottest place to photograph in Iceland now, literally and metaphorically speaking. I had to have a go at it aswell.
This geothermal area has until recently been covered by lake Kleifarvatn. The lake has been shrinking because of drought (yes, even rainy Iceland can have a draught). When the shoreline of the shallow southern end of the lake receded this beautiful geothermal area was revealed a few months ago. It has now become a popular destination for local photographers.
The very windy day caused the steam to travel horizontally towards the horizon creating interesting streaks. Even though the area has only been exposed for a few months it is already starting to form interesting patterns and colors. Seismic activity has also been increasing in the area lately.

nice image indeed a good story teller i must say. Although the steam is technically hot in this image it balances off the warmth of the sun through the blueish hue. its as if there is a cold stream heading towards the run.

the unreal green lights of the “Northern Lights ” you took a few weeks ago are in my favourites folder.
