This has lovely lighting but where is it? Also if you had walked a few meters forward the road would not have been hidden by the foreground. Having said that; the lighting is lovely.

Looks like part of the Sonoma Coastline in Northern California, between Jenner and Fort Ross St Pk (Hwy 1). I don’t know the name of the grade, but it’s a very steep and winding one climbing from the mouth of the Russian River. And no, a few meters forward would not show one more of the road. I don’t think there’s anyplace along the road that gives you a view of whole thing (except just on the edge of it, looking down).
Ok, that said–lovely shot of our great coastline! If I’m correct on location, I can see my favorite beach.

I think Charlene is exactly right on location. I was sure the inlet at the top left was River’s End at Jenner where the Russian River meets the Pacific. One of my favorite stretches of Northern California coastline too. Terrific shot, Jared!

Really good photograph in general – But, a little Where, What, and Why – like some “quote” from your ‘Photographers Notebook’ would be great too.
You do make use of a notebook when shooting do you not?

It’s a unique location and I may have said too much. Some of us don’t like to give away our locations. But I’m still sure it’s the North Coast of California.

It is north of Jenner on the 1. ~24 sec exposure about 15 minutes after sunset. No more road to show, and this comp was to place curved light trails just right. Thanks for the looks and comments. Cheers!
