Light is Life
by Ian Plant
The sun was setting behind some trees just outside of the image frame, back-lighting the flowers and small pine tree. I used flare creatively to create this "concept" image. To learn more about the image, visit my photoblog.

I really like the light and how it spotlights the tree.

Oh wow, I absolutely love this one!

It is like The Chosen Tree! Its amazing that a little seed can find the perfect place to grow, and that seed found paradise. Awesome shot!

It also gives me the impression of a king or queen and her loyal subjects (the flowers in attendance) There really is something profound in this shot!

Throngs of flowers heading for the big stage!

Wow, how do you get the sun to just flair there!

Yes, it is paradise, at least for a few months out of the year. The truck of that dancing fir (yes, it’s a fir, not a pine) tells a tale of brutal snow twisting it half to death….it’s a persistent fir that grows by itself on the mountain. That said…what a spectacular shot and I thoroughly enjoyed reading the backstory on the photoblog. I’d love to be able to process like that!

A pleasing and intriguing image, creatively processed.

This is a beautiful area but I get the impression that the light is a bit artificial; I don’t think it quite fits.

Congrats!

This shot does look like a fairy tale. Great job enhancing the photo.

I think I would have liked it better without the contrived processing. If firs grow one tier of branches per year, that little tree is older than we might think and is paying a price for sprouting so far from the shelter of the forest edge.

Such an awesome shot Ian. Great use of light and perspective.
