Gottcha

Giant Kingfisher with fish in flight. This kingfisher was sitting on the rocks and hitting the fish against the rocks to kill it. It dropped the fish, on the rocks below, went down to fetch the fish and on its flight back I captured the bird in flight.
Equipment: Nikon D700, Sigma 120-300 f2.8 Lens

Fantastic job on this – and with no more than 300mm reach is amazing! I always find kingfishers so shy. Excellent image and congratulations.

That is just a weird looking bird. Looks part myth (Firebird), part dino, part woodpecker, part hawk. Fantastic.

What a wonderful action shot! From the amount of ‘whitewash’ on the rock, we can see that this must be his favorite perch. Great job on this one.
