To much packaging, and waste in this world, nicely captured.

Sad – but beautifully photographed

Wall-e…..eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!
Alex Glover
A fantastic image of a quite harrowing scene. Well done.
Olivia
SAD that people have to live like this; we live like kings & queens and should appreciate every LITTLE thing. COOL PIC

I like the apocalyptic feel about this image. Nice capture.

Great impact here; is that guy really sitting in that chair?
Debs
Wow – you feel like you are there.
Well done! You captured the moment perfectly

Rarely do I comment on this website, but today I feel compelled to thank you for showing me the landscape of my mind, unfiltered.

great shot very dramatic and great message. It shows how advanced mankind has become, it shows how humane we have grown, very strong message and well executed.
Although I feel the man on the chair is staged but whatever the message is strong.

Powerful photo. We in the U.S. don’t realize
how comfortable our lives our-even the lives
of our relatively impoverished. This scene is
truly tragic.

Quite a departure from the usual earthshot. Wonderful pic, on so many levels…

On the other hand I haven’t seen more exotic looking garbage field. Nice capture!

what would seem staged to us, from such a surreal way of living is more likely to be part of the unreal reality of such a life. agree, many do not know their good fortune… touches to the core on artistic, as well as human interest level.

This world has enough for all, still. There is no reason people should have so much garbage, and no reason people should have to go through that garbage to live.
Thank you for this photo. Very poignant. It shows that beauty can be found even in horrible places.

I doubt there is anything “staged” about this picture. Please realise, this is a way of life for many people in impoverished countries and finding a chair you could rest in after combing through other people’s refuse, after working hard makes sense.
This is an amazing picture and so well shot. I could see an old style Life Magazine photo essay on just this topic. Keep up the great work, this is incredible.

I like it! Looks apocalyptic, right out of a movie seen. But it shows how much garbage we accumulate. Hope we wake up soon! Great work!

Its one of those shots, that you like for its artistic merit etc but one youdont like because of people suffering in poverty
Terri
Sometimes art is just good art. But this photo is more. It looks like raw truth. If this is not a wakeup call, what is? What has the world come to if that chair can be someone’s heaven?
Thanks for sharing.

Could this be the pathway to Hell ?

Each of us has probably just finished a meal that could serve at least three of these people. It’s scenes like this that make us ‘sit up and act”.
Thank you Alessandro for a powerful shake!
Ursula
Indeed a very powerful shot. Just look at all the dialogue!

A sad commentary on our times. I am thankful that so many of you agree that we all need to be more diligent about ‘the three R’s'–Reduce, Re-use, Re-cycle! As population increases and usable space shrinks, society will be forced to re-think the throw-away mentality we now have. In the meantime, one man’s trash is another man’s treasure–as evidenced by this moving image.

Impressive scene, unfortunately exist in several parts of the world. Dramatic and emotional image.

Very powerful and disturbing imagery. Great shot.
