Good shot; I’ve never been to Mars, but my guess is that you found this somewhere on this earth.
Congratulations!

Beautiful! Looks like Mono Lake, California.

I love this site. When I ask to see the details, however, I would love to see not only the photographer’s name but also where the picture was taken. Today’s picture is an example. It’s beautiful, but where is that rock structure and lake. The rock looks like it is in Utah, but . . . .

Very nice shot. Looks like the tufas on south Mono Lake.
I was out this way in February of this year, hoping to drive down and shoot the tufas….but the road had snow on it, and since I had gotten stuck up at Mt. Whitney a couple of days before, I decided not to chance it.
Again, very nice shot!

The title reminds me of a Doctor Who episode… Some of you will now what I mean. But when I saw the pic, it fit my expectations in a way I wasn’t expecting
! Amazing shot, I absolutely adore it!
The serenity and off-wordly feel about it is wonderful
Great pic and a well-earned POTD, Shadowfilm…
Cool name, btw… “Shadowfilm”… Real mysterious…

That’s Mono Lake in California just east of Yosemite NP. Nice photograph!

I ran across a random picture on the internet of the same rock structure. It is in Mono Lake, CA. Yours is still the best shot of it I’ve seen

I fell in love with Mono Lake the first time I saw it! It is unlike anyplace else on earth. It was drying up due to water being diverted to Los Angeles via aqueducts. The wind would whip up huge clouds of salty dust causing airline pilots to report possible volcanic eruptions! I’m proud to say that ‘Environmental Extremists’ such as myself campaigned, educated, and had letter-writing campaigns for more than a few years. Once the courts forced LA to stop diverting so much water from the watershed, the lake started to refill, once again becoming an important migratory bird breeding site. Great photo evoking wonderful memories! Thanks.
