Sink
by Marsel van Oosten
This was shot on last year's Namibia workshop, at a deserted diamond mining town near the coast. We spent an afternoon and an evening there, but I could have stayed for a week. Wherever you look, there's a photograph waiting to be taken.
This sink was located in a room that was filled knee-high with sand.
Equipment: Nikon D3, AF-S 17-35/2.8, 13s @ f/16, ISO 200, tripod

Wow, such a neat shot how old is the sink? I think this is such a great shot! Thanks for sharing.

Kolmanskop is always a great location, for takin’pictures, too! Great shot even if I think that’s it’s a pity for the footprints on the sand..

Interesting shot, why was the room full of sand, was it blown in from a desert?

Impressive.
A great testament to the power of nature.
Congratulations.

The eye to see a great shot where others would simply glance away is the true test of a photgrapher’s talent. Specious questions, which can hardly be answered, such as “how old is the sink?” simply make me shake my head.

Most interesting. You can feel the desert is slowly swallowing this old town. Thanks for sharing

Nature claiming back! In a few years the building will probably have gone altogther.

Wonderful composition. Look how bright the walls are, I’m surprised the blowing sand hasn’t dulled them. Amazing how the sand is swallowing the land.

Only a great photographic eye would spot the wonders of this scene. I love it! Thank you.

To borrow a previous commenter’s words, “a great testament” indeed but to the power of greed and exploitation of the African continent. Thanksfor taking and sharing this picture.
