Lovely. Reminds me of cats grooming each other! What kind of bird is it?

Nice photo I sure wish people would let us in on their thoughts on why when where they they took this photo sometimes i get really frustrated with these people If I took a photo i would really be enthusiastic about it i would share my thoughts about it!!!!!!!!! Grrrrrrrrrrr……..

Hey Ziggy I’m pretty sure they are a species of an Owl…….

Thanks sicilian60. I love their eyes, the way they have such fine light coloured feathers around them. The eyes and claws definitely give them an owlish appearance.

Display of a different kind of emotion from an owl!! Not the usual one generally seen in shots, that of a predator. WOW.
Must have been difficult spotting it, since it seems to be pretty well camouflaged.

Love the colour, unusual take on a bird of prey.
Very cute

Great shot. The birds look remarkably similar to Australian Tawny Frogmouths.

Is it a screech owl? I know it’s an owl, that’s for certain though.

It’s unusual to see Owls in an intimate setting, quite lovely!

This is a wonderful shot of owl behavior! They look much like the Burrowing Owls here in the States. They live in burrows in the ground, have long legs, and can stretch or shorten their bodies like slinky toys! I wish all photographers would remember to submit the location of the photo as well as the bird species if known–makes it much easier on those of us who can’t travel the world to seek out new birds for our Life Lists!

Splendid, Splendid! I love this stellar shot!

When I saw the photo of owls, guess you were just a wildlife photographer, but then I went to your site and liked even more. I think we have things in common. I like nature, but I also like the nature of men, at least some … you know? – It curuiso because I was in last April in Israel, where I ended up making a visit to the Holy Land and then went to visit Petra. I really enjoyed this trip and I could collect some photos of some of the people.
Congratulations.
Alex
Those are burrowing owls! and it is an amazing shot
