Geothermal Colors
by Orvaratli
The Landmannalaugar area in Iceland is the most colorful of Icelands landscapes. The high geothermal activity in this large area creates the most colorful rock formations. The patches of hot ground creates the fundamentals for very low lying and slow growing vegetation to flourish in the otherwise lifeless desert.
Hrafntinnusker lies in the middle of the Landmannalaugar area it can be accessed on foot by 10km hike and parts of it by a 4x4 on a rough mountain track.
Shooting hot springs is like shooting seascapes as you try to let the long exposure create a sense of movement. It is as much fun as you never know the shape of the moving steam cloud until after the the camera has rendered the image.

It must have been incredibly rewarding to see how your wonderful photo came out.
Esp. after you have to walk so far in order to take it.
Well Done

You certainly went to a lot of trouble to bring us this shot; well done, it’s great to see places we would otherwise know very little about.
