The Gates of Calypso
by Michael Anderson
"You hear it before you see it. You feel it before you hear it, through the soles of your feet, in the chambers of your soul... a low rumble, the very ground thrumming beneath you. Step to the edge. A gust of wet wind and the earth falls away in this great leap into the abyss." -Jeff Rennicke from National Geographic
Runoff from the heaviest rains in 25 years funnel over the cliffs of Iguazu Falls, one of the greatest natural wonders on the planet.

By far the most dramatic, most original angle of Iguazu I’ve seen. And Rennike’s description completes it in a most beautiful way. Great job!

Beautiful setting and photo. I would like to see a broader view of the site…it’s just me and my curiosity. Maybe that is the best thing about the picture…it makes me want to see more.

OMG ! This is fantastic Michael ! Their is a soft warm glow to this that makes this one stand out for me. It is almost seems like it was taken at night under a full moon – great job !

This reminds me somewhat of Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe……..I still remember how you hear the thunder from the hotel and feel the spray long before you reached the edge……then needing rain garb.
