Skies of Afghanistan
by Erik Johnson
This is a shot I took while flying in Afghanistan behind a Medical Evacuation helicopter. A beautiful country lost in War.
Equipment: Canon 5D Mark II

Absolutely stunning! My departed sister served in Afghanistan as an NGO nurse/midwife working with Afghan women in the late 1990s and she loved the beautiful, stark, high, dry country that is Afghanistan.

It is a beautiful place indeed. You captured the glory of nature and the advances of technology in one great shot. I’m so glad that was a medical rescue helicopter; a killing one would have been devastating…

Thanks guys! It’s been very challenging over here but wonderful. I’m a medical officer and see a lot of things that I wish I didn’t, but I guess its part of the job. Jaz, yes, I was in another Helicopter.
