Piping Plovers are on the ‘threatened’ list. Here in Michigan, nesting areas(usually popular Great Lakes beaches)are usually marked/protected for the short time it takes the birds to lay eggs, then for the young to hatch. Eggs are so well camoflaged–NY Girl is either a really good birder or has a BFF who is one….I can’t imagine anyone but a die-hard birder being lucky or patient enough to capture such a beautiful portrait! My hat is off to you!
