What an eerie sight

Hey all, it didn’t make it in the image description above but the hoodoos were lit (quite by blind luck) by a distant campfire during the hour-long exposure.

indeed a nice shot, clear circulars and the right light

Unique shot, though I don’t get the circular part; looks like a whirlpool! You say it’s a night shot however the brightness of the structure is deceiving.

Marie – the tracks you see are paths left by the stars as our world turns. I don’t know how long Ian’s exposure was, but I suspect near half an hour… on a steady tripod and aimed at North toward the “bulls-eye” North Star. Even Nightime can look like daylight given a long enough exposure. And the rock monuments may have picked up light from a very late setting sun. You may not see it, but there is often color left in the sky, long after the sun has set, and a long exposure can reveal it.

Fantastic–very other-worldly–could be in an entirely different solar system. Earth is truly a diverse and wonderful place.
