Tigress

by SBL

A tigress resting from the intense heat of the day. Taken in the Sal forest at Kanha National Park, nestled in the Maikal range of the Satpura hills.

WOW—How close are you ? What is your zoom? The stripings on the head of this beautiful creature (in my opinion) represent native American war path paint, yet what a docile looking feline. Great shot SBL.

Daring capture! Just curious… How do you know it’s a ‘tigress’ and not a tiger?

I think it’s a tigress because she’s resting with her eyes wide open (typical Mother!)

Hi everyone, thank you for your comments. She is a tigress because she had 3 cubs which were out of sight of my lens. I used a Canon 300mm f2.8 lens.

Lovely to see a shot of an animal like this in the wild and not in a zoo.

This photograph is so touching. Kahna is the best place to see tigers in India, isn’t it? We must spread the word to save these very endangered species. Less people, more habitat for their natural lives.
