Withered
by Scott Hotaling
A lone bristlecone pine at almost 12,000 feet in an early summer snow storm. The soft light as the clouds thinned near sunset made the backdrop a special scene for me.
Equipment: 5D + 17-40L, 2-stop soft graduated ND filter

A climber and naturalist. I love being up high and outside.

Thanks, Su! This shot went overlooked in my portfolio for a couple years until I noticed it again one day looking for something else.

Excellent composition, The framing is the subject. Otherwise it would have bee just an ordinary shot of an ordinary subject.
Compliments.
I am reminded of the Air supply song “…Making love out of nothing at all”

Beautiful shot, I like by the synthesis! It’s unbelievable survival of nature in such a hostile environment. Greetings

I think that this photo “speaks”.. .some pictures you get lost in, but this one elicits a comment, a memory (reference to air supply)… I think for many, it simply has a voice… ie “how I feel without you” It is the kind of photo that makes the PERFECT blank card!

Very nice scene.

Beautiful shot of this remarkable tree. One can never forget standing among these ancient twisted beings–time becomes irrelevant. Lovely image!
