Thanks to you all for your comments.
Jeannie – you might like to get in touch with me re the Christmas Card use. You will find my email on my website.
Sparts, You are right: they are skinny. Mum has been without food for about 8 months and has been breast-feeding all that time. This image was taken when the bears were waiting for the sea ice to form so they can go hunting for the winter. Hudson Bay usually ices over well before the end of November, but last year the bears were not able to leave Churchill until after December 8, giving them a shorter hunting season, and mum still has to breast feed the cubs for more than another year until they can hunt for themselves. If she can’t get enough fat on during a shorter hunting season to last out next season she and/or the cubs may die. We have a lot to answer for with global warming.

I feel like I could pet them! great color and texture on the bears!

They won’t be skinny for long, Sparts. While the kids each grab a drumstick, Momma Bear will be enjoying rump roast!
Captivating image–just beautiful!
