Hey great to see this here. This really showcases the wierd but working symmetry of this creature.

Looks like it just completed a song and dance routine. Where’s the top hat?

It has a Tim Burton “Nightmare before Christmas” look to it. Fascinating.

Praying mantises are definitely ‘other-worldly’ creatures. PETA wouldn’t approve, but if you annoy one by getting too close, they actually assume a karate pose and sometimes display their colorful wings. I really like this shot!

Wow! I can’t even begin to describe how wonderful this is. I know that this will mean nearly nothing to anyone … but, I’m going to put it here, anyway.
There is this game that is story-based, and is about a fictious, mythical Oreintal place, and it’s called “Legend of the Five Rings”. In it is a nation known as the Mantis Clan, and this is so much a real life version of their mon (family symbol). It’s startling .. it’s almost as if the photographer was intentionally taking a photo that couldn’t be more suiting!
It’s absolutely PERFECT. And not just for story reasons, but also that it’s just an amazing photo!!
