Winter Wonderland
by Sandra Bartocha
Winter in Germany is relatively seldom ... so I went to the Spooky Forest to capture winter scenes. Unfortunatly it began to snow only when it was already quite dark - so I used a flash in order to make it visible.
Equipment: Nikon D700, Nikon 2.8/24-70mm

So when you have only lemons……….make lemonade!!!
And what a terrific one at that.
Your use of flash was very innovative. Was it manually trigered on a slow shutter or otherwise?

Wow! What a great shot, and thanks for sharing the secret. Now I have to wait for our next snowfall to try it! I especially like the place name–Spooky Forest sounds like a fantastic place to explore in any season.

The foreground is good but the background is even better, I like the texture made by the snow on the trees.

What a beautiful shot, and the blue color gives it a feeling of evening. Yes, flash with snow stops the flakes and makes it look like real snow, even when used in daylight. Well-done.

I love the colours. It looks like a painting. As many times it only snow here at night I have had to use a flash to be able to see it and photograph it.
thank you for the beautiful shot.

Very creative and “artsy.” Almost an abstract.

Fantastic. Made me smile. The trees seem to be growing out of “washing up” bubbles.

Yeah, it’s really called the “Spooky Forest” – it’s a forest at the Baltic Sea coast and somehow there is always something special. The trees thee ae just beautifully grown …
