Unusual photo–your choice of camera angle and the subtle lighting emphasize the layers and textures. Geology is fascinating, and your photo translates science into art. Very nice potd……….thanks for sharing.

Those are really stupendous textures!
Great shot!!

I wonder what magnitude of geological timescale are we witnessing over here. What drama of natural history is burried in those layers.

I’ve been wondering how long it would be before a photo of the Painted Hills showed up here on Earthshots. Well done, and I agree that the camera angle emphasizes the textures in the hills.

Makes me miss that area of the world.
