This was an image I took last year with fellow flickr member Kevin Pieper. This was a fun morning that involved snowshoeing on this popular spot in the fall but was completely isolated after a winter storm. This was an early morning sunrise.

I just want to take this chance to wish everyone a happy new year and thank everyone for their great feedback which constantly amazes me how generous people are. This is a beautiful shot, Kevin. I tended to think Picture Lake was only a sunset spot. This image changed my mind on that. The fresh untrodden snow and pre-sunrise light are perfect.

Kevin, a forest draped in lavendar velvet! The yellow really makes the whole thing “Pop”. Interesting how the different colors fade into one another! Good eye, wonderful shot. Thank you for sharing and may you have many more this year!

Happy New Year, everyone! My granddaughter has left for home, so I finally get my laptop back! As I sit here, it is 15 degrees outside with a wind-chill making it feel like 2. I WILL NOT be going out today, but this pristine wilderness sunrise almost makes me think I like snow! Wonderful shot, Kevin. Thanks for sharing it so I don’t have to go there!
