What a scene. That must be something to walk under them.

I’ve been there with my wife. It is a really great place for a photographer. Funny thing is that I’m sitting in a hotel just 20 minutes away from the plantation on a business trip. You did it justice! You captured the true beauty of the place. Makes me want to find the time tomorrow and drive by.

Awesome shot Steve. I love how the trees frame the house.

Wow, did the trees talk to you as you wandered around? They look like huge giants embracing the mansion like a fortress, and I bet if they could talk they would have quite a story. Can you imagine how the wind sounds rushing through there!!! How beautiful a picture. You have a great eye Steve, thank you for sharing.

Oak Alley is awesome on any given day and is photographed a thousand times a year, but your photo is the best shot I’ve ever seen of the place. Congratulations.

Great photo. The object is a tragic but important memory of slavery.

As many have said before me “Amazing trees”
Is this HDR or mearger of two exposures?

Apart from the management of light/Luminosity I also like the simple two color scheme of the image.

The tangled web of Oak makes an amazing archway on beautiful grounds. Thanks for the share.

Stunning, elegant and totally draws you in–I want to go up that lovely path under that treed canopy.

The mosses on the trees show that the air is clear and healthy.

The trees seem to try to reach over to the other side to their siblings.

Thanks all for the kind comments. Yes, this was an HDR shot — five bracketed exposures merged to one with Photomatix Pro. Even though the dynamic range of the scene was relatively low as clouds were overhead, the HDR allowed me to capture some interesting detail in the trees.
