Mangrove Moonrise
by Paul Marcellini
These Red Mangroves grow in a transition zone from freshwater to salt. This was a great night with Barred Owls calling all around me and not another person for miles.

Is this the Everglades? I didn’t know mangroves grew there.
Paul Marcellini
Thanks for the comments,
Pauline, it is the Everglades and the Everglades actually houses the largest system of continuous mangroves in the world.

Fabulous photo, I can almost smell it. The sky is extraordinary with the rays spreading out liek a radial from the horizon. Was the sun setting below the horizon there? Beautiful moonrise…. Ah… wish I was there….So peaceful… homey rather than creepy for me! Thanks for the taste of the sunshine state.

Unusually beautiful!
I wonder if anyone will get a shot of the Blue Moon on New Year’s Eve?

Sky-blue-pink is one of my favorite colors! Wonderful shot, and unlike most Everglades photos I’ve seen.
Laurie–Central lower Michigan was socked in with clouds and snow-flurries on New Year’s Eve, but the moon was marvelous on the 30th and again on the 1st, with stars and corona–my camera equipment couldn’t even begin to capture it!
